Our work to better protect communities from flood risk is growing, with an increased focus on place-making and the environment. This assignment is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to be at the forefront of influencing our strategic vision for flood risk.

We are looking for a highly motivated project manager to take the lead on unlocking the potential for delivering strategic flood risk outcomes. You will be responsible for setting direction and determining an appropriate approach, with a focus on Hertfordshire and the Lee Valley.

You will develop, maintain and share a good understanding of the flood risks and opportunities in our Area. You will work closely with local authorities and internal teams to protect people and property from flooding, securing strategic support for our projects.

Good influencing skills and confidence in stakeholder engagement are essential. We want our local authority partners to know how they can contribute to a shared goal of reducing the impacts of flooding.
Sustainable Places manages the Environment Agency’s input into development management and planning policy, working with local planning authorities and developers. Hertfordshire and North London is a diverse area with significant growth occurring over the next few years. This creates exciting opportunities and challenging workloads.

You will also work closely with our flood risk management teams as they plan and develop projects and identify the best options for protecting communities at risk.
We are looking for someone who is versatile, self-motivated and can quickly fit in and help shape the work of our busy teams. A real desire and commitment to build relationships, influence and work with external partners and internal teams is essential.

You will have experience of successful strategic influencing and knowledge of either flood risk or planning policy.
