This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist support and technical leadership to our Non-Nuclear Radioactive Substances team within Installations.

You will be required to take an active role nationally, within the North West area and the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire Installations teams, providing specialist support on radioactive substances, technical assurance on area delivery and coaching and mentoring other team members.

You will undertake inspections of complex permitted sites ensuring compliance and contributing to both security of radioactive sources and protection of the environment. As a specialist and technical leader you will support the area via the wider area leadership group as well as supporting the function on priority work and assurance.
The team is responsible for Non-Nuclear Radioactive Substances regulation across the North West. The team sits in one of three Installations teams in the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire area which work closely together to ensure effective regulation across a range of sectors including chemicals, food and drink, paper and pulp and COMAH.
You will be an experienced regulator able to demonstrate your considerable operational experience and knowledge of radioactive substances and its regulation.

With excellent technical knowledge, communication and interpersonal skills you will be able to demonstrate how you would provide and contribute technical resilience to radioactive substances regulation in the North West and the non-nuclear radioactive substances function.

Confident and flexible in how you approach and respond to changing priorities including incident response, you will hold a degree in a scientific discipline or hold a current Radioactive Waste Compliance Advisor accreditation.

A full UK driving licence is essential.
