Joining this crucial area of the business, you’ll efficiently and effectively support our National Business Team to help facilitate delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects. Day-to-day you’ll focus on monitoring, analysing and maintaining documents related to commercial and cost data of suppliers, to help ensure value for money and good service is achieved. This role ensures data on orders is accurate, processed efficiently and payments are made on time; plus information on project performance is collated and reported. Strong links with the National Commercial team is essential, to ensure that commercial information is shared and new initiatives are embedded both internally and with our partner organisations. You will be based in the Exeter office with the local project team, and will be part of a strong team of 6, split across the Exeter and Solihull offices – and everything you do will bring you the daily reward of knowing that you are helping to save lives and protect homes and businesses.
Our valued National Capital Programme Management Service (NCPMS) is responsible for delivering the majority of our important projects, mainly but not exclusively in the area of flood defence; from multimillion pound programmes to ground-breaking, award winning projects. Your national team will include around 30 colleagues within a supportive environment with a clear sense of purpose. Working as a team is very important to us and we recognise the value each team member contributes.
Positive and proactive, you’re interested in project management, ideally with experience within a project management environment. Achievement of the PRINCE2 Foundation qualification is desirable or a commitment to work towards this. You’ll will have a good academic background (A levels or equivalent) plus excellent information analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to work flexibly within the team and use your own initiative. A proven ability to effectively solve problems by considering different methods within the guidance of defined procedures and frameworks is a must. As a good team player, frequent contact with people within and outside the team to provide or obtain information is required, so good written and verbal communication skills are need. As a self-starter, you will take personal responsibility for your work, providing and expecting high standards, with a commitment to deliver either individually or as part of a team.
