This is an exciting opportunity to join the Partnership and Strategic Overview team in a position funded by the Anglian Central Regional Flood and Coastal Committee. The River Great Ouse catchment has properties at risk from all sources of flooding, which needs to be managed alongside the nationally important growth and infrastructure projects. The catchment is expected to have an extra 500,000 homes and associated infrastructure by 2050. Using your experience and skills to develop a pipeline of flood risk reduction projects and work across flood authorities to ensure the support for their delivery.

We are looking for pro-active, innovative people with experience in delivering water management projects. As an Advisor you will:
- Build a strong pipeline of flood schemes integrating all sources of flooding.
- Identify the flood risk priorities of each Risk Management Authority (RMA) and incorporated these in their pipeline of works.
- Enhance partnership working, develop strong relationships and embed flood risk management amongst RMAs.
- Engaging with local politicians and members of local communities.
- Identifying and influencing a strategic approach to partnership funding for projects.
- Sharing your knowledge and experience to build skills in Local Authority and Internal Drainage Board teams.
You will join a passionate and diverse team delivering flood risk management in East Anglia. There are two roles, one facing RMAs in the upper and one the lower catchments. These roles will be integrated and will co-locate with the RMAs, whenever possible, helping develop their pipeline of flood risk works. You will support a national network of these roles to achieve the highest standard of service, share best practice and any lessons learnt.
A degree in a relevant subject and equivalent professional experience with understanding of the causes, management, responsibilities and the legislative framework of flood risk. Strong project management and appraisal experience with evidence of successful delivery. Familiarity with the government funding approach (5 Case Business Model) would be advantageous. Solid experience in engaging with the public and key stakeholders, (i.e. senior local government officers and councillors). Experience of developing strong partnerships with other public and private sector organisations and with identifying and securing funding settlements and contributions. Experience of undertaking surface/drainage water management studies, use and interpretation of GIS and knowledge of modelling best practices. Ability to analyse data and designs to implement innovative approaches to remove barriers. Confident communicator with strong IT skills. Willingness to travel and work from various locations at our partners’ offices. Ability to work autonomously and balance competing priorities and partners’ needs. A full driving licence.
