We are the Environment Agency. We protect and improve the environment, working closely with businesses, individuals and communities to tackle illegal activity and reduce waste crime.
You will work in a team, strategically preventing and disrupting environmental crime by applying a range of interventions to target offenders in a role that is extremely varied, rewarding and at times challenging .
Serious and organised crime damages the environment and blights communities. You will support frontline staff in producing and delivering disruption strategies, work with internal and external partners to achieve joint outcomes and work with our national teams to apply an intelligence-led approach to tackling the worst offenders and their criminal networks.
You will actively drive forward prevention and disruption across our enforcement community, helping to embed it in to the wider business and promote best practice.
Sitting within our National Enforcement Service, we are a dispersed team working closely with both national and area enforcement teams and a variety of external partners to relentlessly disrupt and close down illegal waste operations.
We are a centre of expertise in developing new disruption tactics and are responsible for building disruption capability across the business - providing an effective addition to our existing toolkit.
You’ll ideally have a background working in enforcement or regulation with a strong customer focus. Perhaps you've carried out criminal investigations, regulated sites against legislative requirements or been in a role where you’ve had difficult conversations with customers. Whatever your background, you'll be passionate about the environment and keen to achieve outcomes, even if this means sometimes dealing with confrontational situations. An understanding of the waste industry is desirable but not essential.

We're looking for someone who:
* has experience of working in an intelligence-led discipline
* has an understanding of prevention and disruption activities and how they can be used to best effect
* has experience of creating working partnerships with others
* has a working knowledge of CPIA and RIPA legislation
* can innovate and develop new ways to stop illegal activity
* is an effective communicator
* is a supportive team player
* is computer literate
