Operational Delivery
£34,330
You will lead a skilled team, responding to flooding and environmental incidents, and delivering the operation and maintenance of our flood risk management assets. Responsible for a significant budget and programming work across your own geographical area, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference for people and wildlife.

You will operate from a large depot and manage your team’s fleet, plant and equipment. You will directly manage more than ten people and also employ a variety of contract staff and suppliers.

This is a challenging, but varied and interesting role. You will liaise with local people, a wide variety of specialist teams within the Environment Agency and other organisations. The health, safety and wellbeing of staff is paramount and you will play the key role in ensuring good behaviours and adherence to good practice.
Your team will consist of an office administrator, two technical staff supporting the delivery of work on the ground and approximately ten field-based staff who deliver the work.

The team is well-trained and has a variety of specialist skills and experience, including driving and operating plant, undertaking tree work, grounds maintenance, minor construction works and the operation of water level management structures.

The team is also part of an out of hours incident response rota.
You will be happy to lead, motivate, challenge and develop others. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of performance management and be positive and self-motivated. You will direct and inspire a team on your own initiative. You’ll be confident managing and prioritising complex workloads, tight deadlines and ever changing priorities. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills, be customer-focused, and aware of wider environmental outcomes and the need to manage our reputation.

In addition to being operationally effective, you will need to be a strategic thinker with the ability to plan to ensure we adapt to new challenges. Excellent training and support will be provided and no specialist skills are needed, but experience of delivering practical outcomes both in a planned proactive way and a reactive (incident) manner is desirable.
Closing Date: 25th February 2018 at 23:55 hours

The role will be based in Bradney Depot and interviews will be held there (date to be confirmed).
