Do you want to work for an organisation that values difference and includes everyone? The Environment Agency is the organisation for you!

We are fully committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone. We welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share.

Have you got a passion for both enforcement and leadership? Are you excellent at communicating, influencing others and have innovative skills? Are you looking for the next stage in your career?

This is a unique opportunity to lead a new national based Agriculture enforcement support team, working directly with area officers to support their enforcement activities, streamlining processes and seeking innovative ways to deliver case files quickly and consistently.

As a part of Project TARA (Testing Approaches to Regulation of Agriculture) this is initially a year’s trial (until 31st March 2025) of a new approach to enforcement, designed to free up our regulatory officers time using dedicated enforcement support officers.

You will lead a team of enforcement support officers and work closely with areas to design new ways of working. As well as leading the team you will work across E&B and the wider business to drive forward improvements in enforcement so as well as good leadership skills you will need to be confident to influence others. You will also need to evaluate the project and make recommendations for the future.

We are looking for an individual with excellent regulatory enforcement skills and recent experience of using relevant EA systems, processes and operational Instructions. Experience of Agriculture is not a pre requisite for this role.
You will join the E&B Agriculture team.

We use smart tools to stay connected, but some travel and overnight stays may be required.

We’re part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate which supports the Environment Agency by using evidence, expertise, and innovation to enhance and support delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources. We steer the direction, set the priorities, and shape our organisation's approach to deliver environmental outcomes and better regulate.
In your capability-based answers please demonstrate your:

• Experience of enforcement activity at the Environment Agency
• Your leadership skills including any training, mentoring or coaching you have delivered
• Your experience of different regulatory regimes at the environment agency
• Your communication and influencing skills

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
We’re committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve, so welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds.

If you consent to be recruited onto a reserve list, we’ll hold your details for 6 months and we may offer you an alternative post.
