At the Environment Agency we protect and improve the environment; look after land quality, promote sustainable land management and help protect and enhance wildlife habitats. We also work closely with businesses to help them comply with environmental regulations.
Operations Catchment Services (OCS) works with a range of internal and external customers to deliver key national processes such as the water company price review and river basin management planning. It works directly with partners to achieve significant environmental improvement. It comprises technical experts and a group of externally facing account management teams. It provides timely and effective evidence for the whole business to connect the needs of both national and local customers, to do things “Once” through standard tools and products and to provide efficient and effective solutions to our customers.

This position puts you at the heart of our data, evidence, projects and programmes of work. The successful candidate will assist with the data and information gathering which is critical to underpinning effective and efficient deployment of resources and effective management of our expenditure. This post provides administrative support to the Water Quality team, ensuring that we are capable of delivering the planning expertise for the business and external partners.
The role sits in one of the three Water Quality Teams within OCS which is part of a large department in Operations called Regulation Monitoring and Customer.
The Water Quality Team provides specialist technical WQ planning expertise across the organisation and externally to water companies. This role can be based at one of our national hub offices and as part of a dispersed team infrequent travel may be required, destinations include Birmingham, Bristol and London.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of environmental issues, complementing strong IT skills, particularly in MS Office suite, databases, knowledge of SharePoint and OneNote

Experience in either environmental data or project management support would be useful but not essential. You will be free thinking, methodical and organised, challenging convention, delivering high quality work to defined deadlines.

You’ll will need to demonstrate ability and/or knowledge in some of the following areas:

• Collection, analysis and interpretation of data
• be proactive, self-motivated and a confident communicator;
• working as part of a team sharing skills and experience to deliver the best outcomes for the environment
• able to managing multiple priorities and competing demands
• ability to work and communicate with a range of customers and partners
