We are looking for someone to manage our stock of mobile flood risk management assets and liaise with national colleagues and our professional partners. In this role, you will plan and supervise the day to day running of an Environment Agency Principal Depot at Sale, Greater Manchester, with duties including the secure storage, maintenance and deployment of equipment such as pumps, flood barriers, sandbag hoppers, incident command vehicles and ultra-high volume pumps.

You will have sufficient skill and knowledge of information technology to be able to keep an up to date asset inventory including: monitoring supply and demand of equipment; asset status; and managing the movement of deployed assets including plant and vehicles. You will be responsible for making sure the depot is opened on time and secured at the end of the day and that buildings are maintained to standard.

You will also manage stock purchasing, delivery, inventory balances, and keep a detailed inventory database and supply documentation. You will identify and manage the Health Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) risks, including but not limited to, maintaining depot standards, safe systems of work, people/ plant interface, using plant and equipment and protecting the environment.
The Greater Manchester, Merseyside, & Cheshire Field Teams deliver an asset maintenance programme on watercourses and respond to flooding and environmental incidents 24/7. We provide advice and support to our colleagues across the Greater Manchester, Merseyside, & Cheshire Area and work across the country if called upon for mutual aid to assist other areas during category 1 incidents.
You can demonstrate the ability to deliver results to performance targets and are able to resolve problems quickly.

A full driving licence is required for this role, along with forklift truck/tele handler, HGV would be beneficial. Being familiar with power tools and COSHH/HAVS is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

Good organizational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure during incident response is essential. You’ll need to understand and be able to follow site health and safety requirements.

You’ll need good people skills to motivate and engage others and be comfortable with managing external suppliers, such as equipment maintainers and logistics/transport staff visiting the site.

A knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulations would be preferred but is not essential as training will be provided.
