We are looking for an organised, motivated team player to join the Humber Strategy Team as we develop the approach to managing the impact of the rising tides around the Humber for generations to come.

This work is exciting and wide ranging. You will work as a key member of our team. There will be opportunity to learn from other members of the team who have a wider range of disciplines. In this often fast-paced environment, it’s important you can approach challenges positively and spot opportunities to improve how things are delivered.

The day to day work will be varied, though there will be a focus on administrative duties that enable the team to work effectively and efficiently. This will include organising, supporting and sometimes attending events and meetings and managing enquiries, as well as communicating with a range of colleagues, local authority partners and stakeholders. The ability to build and maintain a working network of contacts is essential and requires excellent communication skills.
The Humber Strategy team is focused on the long term management of tidal flood risk around the Humber and tidal rivers and includes specialists in flood risk, the environment and coastal habitats, engagement, strategic planning and funding. We’re involved in a number of exciting Humber wide projects, including Humber2100+. We work closely with colleagues across the Environment Agency locally and nationally and with many partners and stakeholders.
Essential skills/experience:

• have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales
• have excellent IT and communication skills (including running Microsoft teams).

Desirable skills/experience:
• good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills;
• an understanding of flood risk management
• an appreciation of the value of strategic planning
