This exciting role will allow you to work closely with our dedicated East Midlands Water Land and Biodiversity (WLB) Area teams who manage a range of assets including pumps, groundwater monitoring sites, flood warning telemetry assets, the Agency’s fish farm and more. You will have a vital role in driving improvements to ensure our assets are safe, effective, resilient and value for money. You will provide sound technical advice and facilitate local delivery to help us achieve our asset management strategic goals.

This role includes:
- Developing our local asset inventory and supporting the implementation of a new asset IT system;
- Implementing asset condition assessment and assurance processes;
- Co-ordinating Strategically Important Asset management requirements including developing key operational plans;
- Reviewing Area roles and responsibilities to ensure the right people are in the right place to deliver our Asset Management System;
- Ensuring our WLB asset management strategic outcomes and legal requirements are understood and opportunities for improvements are reflected in Area plans;
- Occasionally lead a small number of internal and external staff to locally deliver our asset management improvement programme.
You will be one of 14 Area WLB Asset Management Technical Leads and will report to the Area Environment Manager lead for Monitoring. Your workload will be guided locally and by the National Asset Management Systems Team and you will work with other Area Asset Management Technical Leads. At times you may be required to contribute to the work of other national and area teams.

The occasional travel will be required to attend meetings.
You may have worked for an asset management organisation or contractor and been directly involved in projects or the delivery of asset maintenance work. In addition to be able to manage a varied workload. Exposure to engineering projects is desirable.

You should ideally have:
• Institute of Asset Management Certificate or working towards this qualification
• Good knowledge of whole life asset management
• Health, Safety & Environmental experience and awareness
• The ability to deliver through others
• Asset management, engineering or environmental qualification and/or practical experience (environmental, civil, mechanical/electrical)
• Project / programme Management experience
• Experience or awareness of Construction Design Management (CDM)
• Comfortable using information technology and associated software, ideally GIS tools

First-class communication skills are a must and it’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities. You’ll be an intelligent problem solver too, with a methodical work approach.
