We’re looking for a proactive team member to join the Waste Regimes Operational Services Investigation (WROSI) team, part of Operations Regulatory Services.

The portfolio responsibility is Intelligence Development and Data Support Officer. We investigate national fraud primarily across: Waste Batteries and Accumulators, Packaging Waste and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regimes including investigations in Material Facilities, Separate Collections and International Waste Shipments.
The team employ a suite of tactics, including exercising of regulatory enforcement responses, prosecutions, and innovative prevention and disruption techniques to deter against criminal behaviour.

Everyday will be different, but will include the following:

•Research and develop intelligence obtained from sources and support the Intelligence Lead with preparing products to direct and focus investigative and regulatory work across the Producer Responsibility regime. Including data extraction and analysis that support with our objective of being ‘Intelligence Led’.
•Support and assist the Lead to analyse information from various sources and produce intelligence products that can be shared and used by key stakeholders.
•Maintain Intelligence, Case Management Systems, including Memex and assist in the Lead with evidence-based decisions to support the wider department.
Joining our diverse enforcement team, who specialise in dealing with intelligence development across the Producer Responsibility Regime, you'll work collaboratively with departments across the Environment Agency, devolved agencies, overseas competent authorities and law enforcement agencies to target serious offenders using a risk based, intelligence led approach.
We need an individual to demonstrate the following:

•A proactive and inquisitive approach to the research and development of information and intelligence.
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to embrace new tools that support virtual communication and ability to translate technical queries whilst overcoming barriers.
•A good understanding of the role of intelligence in tackling waste crime along with previous experience of using intelligence in a role to help identify patterns and trends. Relevant experience from a waste background is desirable.
•Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to support colleagues across WROS on queries in relation to intelligence work.
•Experience of producing accurate reports; collation, analysis, and interpretation of large data sets.
•Competent use of Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to, Excel skills and relevant intelligence systems.
•Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
•Organisational and planning skills to deliver on multiple work streams with conflicting deadlines.

Office location can be flexible, you’ll need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. Frequent national travel and overnight stays may be required, as well as some office working for specific business needs.
