We are looking for a highly motivated person to lead our Area Programming Team, with this excellent new opportunity for a permanent role. In this role you will oversee the £40-50Million per annum Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk (FCERM) investment programme for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for the Environment Agency and the Area’s Risk Management Authorities. With the largest ever National FCERM six-year investment programme it’s an excellent time to lead this fantastic team.

You will have line management responsibilities, including health, safety and wellbeing of your team, resource and workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

You will lead and support your team, linking with partners, area teams and national teams to maintain a robust and accurate programme of FCERM investment. The role is also pivotal in providing capital programme updates to the Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) through presenting at quarterly meetings and to our monthly Area Delivery Portfolio Board
You will lead a team of five officers and advisors in the Area Programming Team covering Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, within our Flood and Coastal Risk Management Department. The team manages our investment programme and undertakes detailed analysis and monitoring of our funding allocations.

The team deals with a diverse range of funding and is critical to securing partnership funding opportunities working closely with area and national Environment Agency teams.
This role requires a mix of team leadership and programme management skills to ensure the team works with high quality data to support our area priorities and funding decisions.

You will need:

- To be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and be a member of a professional institution relevant to this role.

- Good analytical, influencing and management skills.

- Extensive experience of programme, project and financial management.

- The confidence to adjust budgets as project forecasts alter, or respond to short notice programme changes.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical funding information clearly to a wide audience.

- An appropriate level of experience and commensurate knowledge of managing health, safety and wellbeing.
