Do you enjoy the challenge of complex flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Projects? Would you like a technical role where others will look to you for leadership? Have you experience of the delivery of projects led by Risk Management Authorities (RMAs)? If so, this could be the role for you.
You will be the senior technical advisor on the development and delivery of RMA Projects in Devon and Cornwall. The Environment Agency will not be the lead on these projects, we are often a lead senior partner advising the RMAs on the development and delivery of their more complex projects. You will work with other Environment Agency colleagues on a number of these projects. As a senior advisor you will bring considerable experience and confidence to the role.

Key responsibilities to include:
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.

• Technical leadership on flood, coastal and erosion risk management.

• Ensure the necessary Environment Agency resources are bought into the development and delivery of RMA Projects.

• Have technical oversight of the RMA programme of FCERM projects

• Mentor junior members of staff

• Fulfilling an Incident Management Role
The role sits within the new RMA and Environment Project Development Delivery Team, part the Partnerships and Strategic Overview team in the Flood and Coastal Risk Management department. This team focuses on the development and delivery of projects lead by RMAs and where nature-based solutions are the approach to increasing resilience to catchments and communities. These areas are key to the delivery of the FCERM strategy and better protecting 314,000 properties between now and 2027.
• You will understand how flood and coastal erosion risk is managed and how to work with RMAs to deliver flood defence projects.
• Be an excellent technical leader with good experience of working on complex FCERM Projects in a pressured environment
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Have (or working towards) a recognised technical chartership or qualification appropriate to the role
• Experience of building and nurturing supportive partnerships to deliver FCERM projects.
• Confidence in your own knowledge and skills with an ability coach and mentor others.
• Be passionate about delivering practical solutions to reduce the likelihood of floods and environmental incidents and their impacts with consideration to reducing our carbon footprint.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
