We’re looking for an enthusiastic team member with good knowledge of the Town and Country planning system and an understanding of how we can use our environmental focus to positively support the government’s growth agenda.

High levels of growth are proposed throughout our area with many opportunities for securing environmental outcomes including flood risk management, brownfield regeneration and increasingly challenging water resource issues. You'll be responsible for managing our relationship with several Councils and influencing their strategic plans and development management decisions. The role also requires the ability to work on various high profile and politically important developments.

You’ll need excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a range of external and internal customers. You'll also need good organisation skills, work independently on occasion and be able to meet statutory deadlines under challenging work pressures.
You'll join a positive and flexible team that takes pride in achieving successful outcomes for the environment.

You’ll work closely with our specialist teams who deal with flood risk, contaminated land, water quality, biodiversity and permitted facilities to ensure we provide sound advice to our customers.

We are always looking to improve our service and demonstrate the value of SP to the wider business and support sustainable economic growth as well as environmental enhancements.
Experience of the Town and Country planning system and the EA’s role within it to promote our aims as well as support the Government’s wider growth agenda.

Ability to think strategically and consider the bigger picture.

A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a drive to seek new innovative ways of working.

Good organisational skills and the ability to positively respond to changing priorities within set timescales.

Excellent customer service and communication skills – both written and verbal.

Ability to effectively influence Councils and developers to deliver environment benefits through the planning system.

Confidence to make sound decisions based on competing or complex factors and ensure the best and most effective use of your time and resources.
