Based and working predominantly at the Port of Immingham, located on the south bank of the Humber estuary west of Grimsby. The role will support the work of the National Enforcement Service Intelligence Team by providing accurate and timely inspection and evidencing of shipments passing through UK Ports. You’ll also pro-actively gather and develop information from internal and external partners to support the production of intelligence assessments, which help target resources effectively. The role will also require the candidate to provide a field intelligence officer capability, occasionally nationally.

The candidate will be required to:
• Conduct inspections of containers leaving the UK either as notified waste or to check compliance with TFS regulations.
• Identify and detect prohibited waste items and assisting other law enforcement agencies in the identification of other illegal exports.
• Prevent illegal shipments from leaving UK boarders.

As part of the Field Intelligence Officer role to:
• Support our intelligence-led approach to deter, disrupt, prevent and dismantle serious and organised environmental crime at an Area, National and international level.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships at National and Area level with internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct tasks as required by Intelligence team leader
The Environment Agency’s Intelligence Team is responsible in the developing of all intelligence to direct and support the Environment Agency’s intelligence strategy; DEFRA funded projects and selected major investigations
Essential
• Full driving licence
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Good relationship building, problem solving and critical thinking skill
• Proven ability to achieve results
• Self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimum supervision or as part of a team.
• The ability to prioritise workloads, work under pressure and use their initiative.

Desirable
• Experience of working in an information gathering environment, with good practical knowledge of developing of intelligence at national and international levels
• Computer literate with good IT skills.
• Experienced with intelligence handling and respective legislation
• Ability to interpret data and identify trends / patterns, provide attention to detail and accuracy in work undertaken
• Knowledge of covert intelligence gathering
• Knowledge of intelligence principles and National Intelligence Model
• Knowledge of CPIA/RIPA
• Evidence of working collaboratively with other teams and external stakeholders to develop innovative analytical approaches
