Applying guidance and expertise to provide technical advice and quality assurance on appropriate monitoring solutions

• Development and widespread testing of new FWEP standard and FoNT compliant low power WITS DNP3 outstation configurations.
• Developing new, innovative and low cost monitoring solutions to deliver warnings in hard to reach places, ensuring end to end compatibility with current and proposed systems.
• Working closely with our framework contractors to ensure products are fit for purpose and liaising with NTS, FoNT, H&T and HP&TS to ensure that instrumentation and solutions are fit for purpose and sustainable beyond the life of the project.
• Working closely with suppliers, National Telemetry Service, Future of National Telemetry project, Area operations colleagues and others to successfully embed new monitoring products into day to day operations and develop and organise appropriate FWEP specific technical training.
• Reacting quickly and efficiently to technical monitoring problems or issues, suggesting alternative solutions when the need arises
• Working closely with colleagues in the FWEP team to ensure join up across all forecasting projects and wider FWEP project work
• Collecting, analysing, and managing data
• Producing reports and briefings for project and management assurance
You will work within Evidence and Risk within the flood warning expansion Project Team. The team will coordinate all work required to facilitate the expansion of the flood warning network. The team are fully focussed on ensuring we deliver on our commitment to government of providing warnings to all properties at high risk by 2022.

The Project Delivery Team are part of the Incident Management and Resilience Department in National Operations.
Considerable understanding and experience of monitoring instruments, Telemetry systems, outstations, GPRS comms, FoNT, industry standard signals & low power solutions
Experience of designing, assembling, configuring, installing, commissioning and testing new telemetry installations.
Evidence of technical problem solving, horizon scanning, component and system development
Extensive Hydrometry & telemetry experience and linkage with the Flood Warning Service.
Personal and data management skills:
Good communication and engagement skills including with suppliers, technical teams, customers (internal and external) and end users.
Great analytical skills, working with statistics and data, especially power budgets, signals, communications & hydrographs
A good awareness of telemetry and incident management systems
Understanding of hydrometric data, its limitations, collection techniques, measurement issues, deployment requirements & network management challenges.
Working at pace to tight deadlines, use your initiative, managing self, and take responsibility for tasks.
