We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and organised leader of people to work within a thriving Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) department within our North East Area. You’ll lead one of our Partnerships & Strategic Overview teams and you will play a critical role leading and motivating the team, supporting team members through organisational change and managing resources (people and finances) effectively and efficiently. You will be responsible for taking a strategic overview of all sources of flood risk in the area, for working with other Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) and also developing internal and external partnerships to facilitate the development and delivery of the flood risk capital investment programme. You will play a pivotal role within our leadership community and you’ll also contribute to a strong national community providing strategic and tactical steer to develop the FCRM business. You will also be trained and tested such that you become ready to play an important role in our response to flood and other environmental incidents. We will be recruiting one permanent role and one fixed term role until 30 September 2020.
Flood and Coastal Risk Management plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does, helping to protect against flooding and minimising the impacts on people and the environment.

Partnerships and Strategic Overview teams help set the long term direction for flood risk management locally and work closely with Risk Management Authorities, private sector partners and communities to advise, identify, develop, manage, fund, regulate and deliver flood risk projects and works.
You'll bring strong organisational and business awareness, and your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be complimented by your enthusiasm to achieve results and your ability to lead and coach others to do the same. In addition you will be able to demonstrate:

- Demonstrating political awareness and sensitivity when dealing with customers, stakeholders and communities
