We are looking for a highly motivated and positive individual to work as part of a team that engages with local planning authorities and developers to secure the best possible environmental outcomes.

Your work will involve:

• Influencing customers and building relationships internally and externally on site-specific and strategic matters
• Working to ensure consistency between the North London and Hertfordshire Sustainable Places teams
• Leading / participating in local and national projects to achieve integrated solutions that progress effective change and improvement
• Training and coaching others to equip them with the technical knowledge and skills
• Supporting team members through the Local Plan process
• Supporting the Team Leader by utilising strong leadership and project management skills
The North London Sustainable Places team manages the Environment Agency’s input into the planning process and works very closely with the Hertfordshire Sustainable Places Team. We aim to secure environmental outcomes such as flood risk reduction, land remediation and river restoration.

You will join a positive, hard working team that takes pride in delivering results. We are continually developing our skills to become more evidence led, business focused and customer orientated.
You will be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Expected skills and experience include:

• Experience working with major planning applications
• Experience working with Local Plans (or similar experience on other strategic documents)
• Project management skills
• An ability to work in a high workload, high pressure environment
• Effective influencing and negotiation skills
• Excellent customer services skills
• An ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences
• A flexible, positive approach and a proven ability to achieve results
• An ability to effectively train and coach others
• An awareness and understanding of the political framework and internal national context we work within
