We are looking for an energetic, innovative and positive individual to join the Wessex Sustainable Places team.

The role will involve:

• Managing a case load of planning work including Local Plan consultations, Development Management consultations, EIA’s and pre-planning cost recovery consultations
• Building and enhancing our relationship with local planning authorities
• Delivering a positive planning service to internal and external customers and stakeholders
• Representing the Environment Agency at workshops, meetings and conferences
• Working with your Planning Specialists and the Team Leader to increase our visibility in the planning and development forum
The Sustainable Places team engages with Councils, developers and other partners to secure the best possible environmental outcomes whilst supporting the Government’s growth agenda and a sustainable economy.

You'll join a positive, hardworking team that takes pride in delivering results. We are continually developing our skills to become more business focussed and customer orientated so you’ll need an understanding of external growth drivers and how we can positively promote environmental improvements in this context.
• A flexible, positive and enthusiastic approach to work.
• Some knowledge of the Town and Country planning system and growth initiatives.
• An awareness and understanding of political and economic drivers affecting the Environment Agency’s work.
• An appreciation of the needs of private-sector business so we can promote environmental outcomes within this context, highlighting their wider value to customers.
• Evidence of effective influencing and negotiation skills with internal and external networks.
• Motivated to deliver high quality customer service.
• Ability to prioritise and work in a high workload environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent customer services skills and a great communicator to a wide range of audiences
You'll be based in our Blandford office but will sometimes be required to travel for meetings. A full driving licence is therefore necessary.
