The role of a Disclosure Officer is critical in the Environment Agency's ability to conduct robust investigations into criminal activity associated to environmental offending, which is key to our organisations objectives to protect and improve the environment.

As a Disclosure Officer, you will be part of a national team within the National Enforcement Service (NES) and you will perform an imperative role on serious and significant environmental crime cases in compliance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 and related legislation and guidance.

You will be assigned as the lead disclosure officer on specific cases, working with both Investigating officers located in area teams and with our legal services department. This will require you to build and maintain strong working relationships over a wide area, to provide the best service possible. This require some occasional travel.

You will also be available to provide advice and guidance about disclosure and best practice on less significant cases.
You will be based in one of two National Hubs working on complex investigations involving significant volumes of evidence and unused material generated during the enquiry.
The Disclosure team is part of the National Enforcement Service who manage Major and Serious investigations into Environmental offending, most notably Waste crime. This is a growing area of criminality and the disclosure team has been established to specifically focus on collating and managing unused material and to promote best practice across our organisation.
Knowledge and experience of performing the role of Principal Disclosure Officer on large scale investigations and understanding of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, Disclosure Manual and relevant amendments to disclosure requirements.
Expertise in an investigative role, and you have an understanding of the complexities and sensitivities of crime investigation and have the proven ability to adapt your communication style to a diverse range of audiences and situations.

Knowledge and experience of preparing accurate disclosure schedules and attendance at Magistrates and Crown Court.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to build and maintain Networks over a large geographical area.
