As part of a small team of Geomatics Analysts you will assist in generating an updated regional coastal and terrestrial habitat map using aerial photography and other spatial datasets. With tight deadlines you will need to be able to get up to speed very quickly.

The ideally suited candidate will be an organized and skilled everyday user of GIS, including file geodatabases and digitizing and have a good understanding of habitat classification.
Geomatics is an internal business unit within the Environment Agency's Monitoring Services department. Its remit is to deliver Geomatics services to the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community.

We are focused on delivering the highest quality data and providing a fully integrated approach to the delivery of geo-information. Combining cutting edge technology with expert personnel, we work to the highest scientific to provide accurate and high quality GIS ready products.
You'll have a good degree in Geography, GIS, Ecology or another relevant scientific discipline.

You will be able to demonstrate strong and broad ranging GIS skills, preferably using ESRI ArcMap software.

You'll be able to demonstrate a good understanding of habitat classification systems.

Very strong organisational skills, highly motivated and a professional attitude.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to collect, analyse, interpret, record, manage, develop and share data, material or information appropriately for a variety of purposes. You will be able to handle, analyse and interpret and report on large survey datasets to create clear and accurate GIS products.
Achieves Results
You should have the ability to set and deliver high work standards and demonstrate the drive to meet targets. Being able to prioritise and organise tasks to ensure timely achievement of results is essential, with the ability to be flexible as priorities change.
Scientific Knowledge
You will need to demonstrate the ability to apply scientific knowledge to provide sound, science-based evidence to our internal and external customers. Being able to apply knowledge of survey techniques and coastal processes to provide sound, science-based evidence is required.
