You’ll help manage the Environment Agency’s broad range of flood defence structures including sluices, flood walls, embankments, gates, trash screens and culverts. The work will include inspection of these structures and management of our asset database to help generate our maintenance, repair and replacement work. There may be opportunities to help out in the delivery of this work. Your inspection work will also ensure public safety at Environment Agency own sites.
The role is based in Farnham, but will include both office and site work throughout the year.
A key part of the role will be assisting with incident response. You will fulfil a flood risk management duty role which can involve organising personnel, supervising work, data collection and dealing with flooding and pollution incidents.
You’ll work in an experienced and friendly team of 10 staff, who manage flood risk maintenance activities and Environment Agency operated flood defences in Berkshire and Surrey.
We ensure our assets are inspected, maintained and in an operational state.
Our team work with and advise local communities, land owners and professional organisation to meet their riparian responsibilities. If necessary we can take enforcement action where there has been a breach to the Land Drainage Byelaws.
You will have good organisational skills with experience of data collection and an understanding of asset management and structural engineering is desirable. You will be comfortable working within a team and on your own.
You should have:
• Data management experience
• Comfortable using information technology and associated software
• Safety, Health & Environment experience and awareness
• Be able to work/communicate with staff and our customers
• Keenness to learn and develop
• Full driving licence

Your work will require frequent travel estimated to be 3-4 days per week although this will vary from week to week. Travel will generally be to site but may well include occasional trips to our offices and other venues across England. Travel for work is paid for. A vehicle will be provided with the role.

Full driving Licence
