Are you looking for a challenging and exciting role at the centre of flood and coastal risk management in the Environment Agency?

We’re looking for a senior advisor with a strong interest in programme management and improving the environment to join our Flood Risk Data & Evidence team in Yorkshire.

• You will manage and ensure that our Yorkshire mapping and modelling programme is linked to the flood risk management capital programme. Ensuring we provide timely data and evidence to support future flood alleviation projects.
• You will build and sustain effective relationships with our key customers, delivery partners and framework leads.
• Collaboration with our Programme & Contract Management colleagues, our Area Flood & Coastal Risk Management teams and National Evidence & Risk teams is essential for effective delivery.
• You will mentor and coach others on procedures practices and techniques equipping them with the knowledge and skills to deliver their work in an effective and efficient manner.
• You will solve complex queries relating to our modelling programme.
• You will lead planning and co-ordination of modelling project and programme activities using data and evidence to engage with customers from across the organisation.
• You’ll be an enthusiastic, organised, motivated individual with high standards and a proven record of proactive learning and technical delivery.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
Our Partnership & Strategic Overview (PSO) teams develop the technical knowledge needed to deliver a strategic overview of flooding, providing compelling evidence to support our vital Flood Risk work. The Data & Evidence PSO team coordinate the use of spatial data across the Area through strong data management and technical support, turning data into useable information.

We are a large friendly team who work from both home and the office, we are based across Yorkshire.
Through your experience you will ideally be able to demonstrate the following:
• Have a science/geography background or a relevant degree/professional qualification
• Be an excellent networker and influencer with an ability to develop and maintain good relationships with our customers, partners and external organisations
• Programme management experience, including knowledge of project management / governance, and managing multiple priorities and competing demands
• Strong technical skills and experience in flood risk management
• Extensive delivery of technical work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data / information
• Be an intelligent problem solver, with a methodical work approach including the ability to identify and deliver continuous improvements
• You may be required to line manage staff members, helping them to achieve, develop and stay safe and well, therefore a strong interest in developing and supporting people is required.
• You’ll have some experience of flood risk modelling and/or GIS.
