As a member of the Area Asset Management Team, you will be helping to deliver a wide variety of work to ensure that we have the right flood risk assets in the right places and that they are in the right condition.
Primarily geographically based, you will manage assets within a catchment, as well as responding to incidents and enquiries within the area.

You will help manage our assets on site, recording data and ensuring it is within the required range, and can be relied upon to inform our future investment programme. This would include site work to understand our asset base, collect, analyse and interpret information on it to ensure that we can manage it well.

You will also develop the maintenance programme with senior officers to maintain conveyance and prevent flood risk. Your work will help inform the team to identify potential new projects delivering flood and coastal erosion risk management assets such as flood walls and embankments provide the most appropriate long-term solutions and are safe for us to maintain.

You will use your excellent communication skills to liaise with a range of internal colleagues such as our field teams, external organisations and individually with customers who require help or information from us.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.'
Asset management plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does; helping to protect against flooding and minimising the risks caused by any floods that occur. The work we do directly and in partnership with others reduces flood risk to communities. We look after a diverse range of assets in our area and we are a mix of engineers, asset managers, data officers, and asset inspectors.
The roles require excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to ensure our wide asset base is maintained to the required standards using Asset, Geographical Information, and other IT systems. Familiarity with IT systems particularly with respect to asset management would be an advantage.
Each of the roles will involve you visiting our assets on site, as well as our customers so it is essential that you have a valid driving licence.

You will be a team player and have the ability to make sound decisions based on data and evidence. Great verbal and written communication skills are also essential as you will be liaising with customers and a range of colleagues daily.

Experience in flood risk management, GIS systems, engineering or asset management activities is advantageous but not essential. It’s the way you can learn, adapt, communicate, use your initiative, and solve problems that will set you apart.
The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce which reflects the communities we serve.

Your answers to the capability questions will be used to determine interview selection.
Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given the training and support you need to succeed.
There are also fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications.
The Environment Agency offer an extensive range of employee benefits
The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in our incident response remit which may involve out of hours working.

Interviews are expected to take place at early February.
