We’re looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication, planning and data manipulation skills to help plan and deliver water quality in Hertfordshire and North London (HNL) area to provide multi-functional environmental benefits.

As a Water Quality Planning specialist, you'll provide evidence and advice to working groups & local projects, you'll lead information delivery to senior managers & provide solutions to complex issues.
You'll use evidence and judgement to identify actions to deliver environmental improvement.

You'll secure delivery of actions by planning work in an integrated & coordinated way, providing timely, technical input to plans, reports & other communications. You'll also influence the amount of resource needed from internal delivery teams. This will involve building & maintaining sound, influential relationships with both internal & external customers / partners, particularly Water Companies.
The team is made up of environment planning specialists and support officers who focus on water quality, water resources and Water Framework Directive activities. Working with operational teams and national colleagues, the team collates, analyses and shares data to produce environmental evidence that informs and drives area priorities.
You'll have a good understanding of our business and environmental activities, complementing strong IT (particularly GIS) and communication skills. Ideally you'll have a degree in an environmental subject and strong experience in planning and delivering Water Quality work at an area level. It would be helpful if you have had some WQ modelling experience but it is not essential as training can be provided.

This will include:

• Co-ordinate and help deliver Water Company Periodic Reviews
• Some experience of working with Water Companies.
• Provide expert knowledge in dealing with Drinking Water and associated pollutants
• Some knowledge of water quality models (e.g. SAGIS and RQP software) but full experience not essential
• Technical support in a wide range of water quality issues in both urban and agricultural environments
• Provide support to the HNL drought team with any water quality information they may require.
