The job is to support the flood incident management and warning services in the busy Hertfordshire and North London area. Working within the Flood Resilience team, and with a range of internal and external partners, you will support the public, professional partners and the Environment Agency staff to be prepared for and resilient to floods. As part of a varied and challenging workload you will:
- ensure we provide a first class response to flood incidents by maintaining our systems and procedures and contribute to the delivery of training and exercising to staff;
- support the team to plan and deliver engagement with local communities, to increase awareness of flood risk and knowledge of appropriate actions to take in response to flooding;
- work with professional partners to support multi-agency planning and preparation for flood incidents;
- contribute to our wider incident response in line with your skills and experience.

- demonstrate excellent communication skills, able to use a range of styles to address different audiences, with experience of community engagement being desirable;
- be well organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and maintain attention to detail to ensure your work is delivered to a high standard;
- be self-motivated working well in team environment and under your own initiative;
- have competent IT and data skills; experience of GIS software would be beneficial.
