Key Responsibilities:

Develop and motivate to ensure an effective and appropriately skilled disclosure team is maintained, a culture of continuous improvement developed and individual and team performance optimised

Plan, monitor and control resources to maximise efficient and effective use of disclosure officers in order that disclosure activities are completed to time, cost and quality

Lead and support team members through organisational change effectively, so improvements and benefits are realised and better ways of working delivered which support customer and environmental needs

Provide technical disclosure advice to team members and internal customers, developing solutions to problems and disclosure risks such as digital media or body worn camera disclosure within policy/best practice guidelines

Establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners to understand disclosure requirements to enhance Environment Agency goals and reputation

Be accountable for delivery of recommendations to improve disclosure, working alongside internal legal teams and learning and development to improve our disclosure training and framework

You will be working with a range of customers and stakeholders, so excellent communication and engagement skills are a must
Managing one of two Disclosure teams, you will lead the development of disclosure awareness training for staff across the Environment Agency developing standardised, mandatory key procedures including:

Planning evidential requirements,
Evidence gathering,
Storage,
Recording and tracking of disclosable materials,
Guidance for the appointment of suitably trained officers for these tasks.

The team will train senior managers and directors regarding disclosure obligations as well as managing disclosure requirements for case files across the country.
It is key that you have knowledge of and / or appreciation of the role of Disclosure Officers within your previous roles.
You'll need to be a proactive self-starter with demonstrable ability, understanding or interest in the following:
Experience or understanding of leading people to deliver high quality disclosure schedules

The ability to work collaboratively with others throughout the organisation such as Legal Services and Area Enforcement Teams;

Ability to foster and drive continuous improvement through periodic review disclosure schedules for quality to professionalise the service;

Good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills for example on material relevance, sensitivity, and to assess for material that undermines the prosecution case or assists that of the defence;

Good planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities;

A flexible approach which allows you to contribute effectively when working with different groups
Able to adapt and undertake different roles in different situations.
