We are looking for enthusiastic, driven and adaptable people to join our North East Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations department. This department helps to protect communities against flooding and minimise the risks caused by any floods that do occur.
Knowing the condition our assets are in and the risks they pose underpins our risk based approached to asset management. The information is used to help us plan our work and target our resources.
This job is for the role of an Asset Inspector. You will be out on the ground, walking the watercourse’s carrying out a programme of visual inspection of the assets to determine their condition, identifying issues and risks to our staff and the public, liaising with colleagues to ensure works are identified to correct defects.
The role involves working outside, year round, walking on average 5-8km per day.
Our Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) teams help to protect against flooding and minimise the risks caused by any floods that do occur.
These roles are based within Asset Performance, who are responsible for the overall performance of the Environment Agency’s assets, including all our flood and coastal defences. The teams undertake inspections, plan maintenance and repair works, ensuring the assets are ready to operate in a flood
Whilst full training will be provided we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:
-Knowledge of flood risk management
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
- Working under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- Organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office (strong Excel skills are desirable) and other relevant applications
- Driving licence
