This post is a Water Resources Planning Officer. You will help to deliver and champion the Water resources remit in IEP and across the Area. The work that we are currently focussed on includes – water company planning, abstraction reform, strategic licensing and New Authorisations. The exact nature of your role will depend on your experience. You will work with other planning officers and planning specialists in the team. You will also work very closely with other Area teams

You can expect to be involved in
-ensuring our customers have the right permits to abstract the water they need
-Safeguarding river flows - making sure we have enough water in our rivers to support a healthy environment
-data interpretation and mapping
-water company project work
-Keeping our Catchment Abstraction Management Strategies up to date
-delivering innovative changes about how we manage water users

This is an interesting an varied role and you will have a broad remit of Water Resources work
IEP are a multi-functional team that work across are teams to ensure that the work we do is delivered in an integrated way and that we embrace catchment leadership as an area. The work areas we cover are – Water Resources, Water Quality, Regulated Industry, Catchment Planning and WFD.

We make sure that we have the right evidence to deliver the best for the environment
You will be educated to degree level in an appropriate subject or have the relevant experience for the role

You will need to have a good understanding of Water Resources and the environment, ideally you will have evidence of working in this area. You will be working with customers both internal and external. You will need excellent customer service skills, be able to solve problems quickly and demonstrate strong communication skills
