Within our Operations Field Team, you’ll help manage river and coastal defences, working to counteract the causes of flooding and pollution.

Delivering routine maintenance for our assets, you’ll protect properties and infrastructure by maintaining flood defences and river channels. This physical role involves working in a team, outside in all weathers. You'll undertake a range of activities, from strimming, debris and tree clearance to construction and maintenance.

We act quickly when floods or environmental emergencies occur, so you’ll take part in an emergency call out rota to respond, operating our assets such as pumps, sluices and flood gates.
Our Operations Field Team are based at Iceni House, Ipswich, Suffolk. We deliver a maintenance programme on rivers and watercourses across the area and respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night. We provide advice and support to our colleagues in Asset Performance, Hydrometrics, Biodiversity and Environment Management. We also work across the country when called upon to assist other areas in flood and environmental incident response.
You should demonstrate a positive adaptable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude as a worthy team player. Good organisational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure during incidents are essential. You must understand site health and safety requirements and you’ll need good communication skills to work with customers and partners.

We would like you to have a good level of environmental awareness and experience with tablet style computers and familiarity with mobile technology.

The ideal candidate will have experience with plant and machinery and a foundation of practical skills like power tool operation and minor construction work.

Trailer towing (Additional Category B+E on driving licence) would be an advantage.
The grade rate is £18,676
Hours : 37 per week.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
We as an Agency take part in incident response. If successful your line manager will discuss arrangements with you depending on your role and circumstances.
