We are looking for an enthusiastic and suitable candidate to join the North East Area Hydrometry and Telemetry Team as a Technical Specialist. Your role will involve a mixture of activities, both office and field based. Activities include, but are not limited to, carrying out installations in the field, the management of contractors, the delivery of the team’s work program, mentoring and coaching team members, liaising and influencing our partner Hydrometry and Telemetry teams at a local and National level, assisting the Team Leader with the management of the team and being heavily involved in delivering projects at a local and National level. Having the desire to drive the team forward as one and strive for excellence is a key quality that we are seeking. The collection and delivery of high quality hydrometric data is essential for the effective management of water resources and the management of flood risk both locally and nationally, you will be a key player in achieving this.
The team undertakes core and project Hydrometry and Telemetry activities within the North East Area and are essential data providers to the organisation and its external partners. You will join a predominantly field based team who require clear and consistent guidance with regards to ways of working and best practice in the field of Hydrometry and Telemetry.
We are seeking a self-motivated individual and an excellent team player. You will have relevant vocational training and/or experience in an associated field and possess knowledge and proven ability in:

• Leading people;
• Using initiative;
• A sound understanding of hydrometric and telemetry networks.

Other key requirements include a keen eye for detail, good organisational skills and the ability to communicate well to a wide range of individuals and groups. As part of a customer driven team you will have excellent communication and customer service skills in order to understand client requirements and deliver to their expectations.
