It is a fantastic time to work for the Environment Agency, as we lead in tackling the climate emergency. It is our job to improve the environment for people and wildlife. We employ 10,000 skilled people whose job is to do just that. Supporting those people are experts in services such as Human resources, Finance, IT and communications. Without these people the Environment Agency cannot be successful. We call these our ‘corporate services’.
Your job, in the corporate management team would be to ensure we have a successful partnership with the corporate services teams to ensure the Environment Agency gets what it needs to improve the Environment.

Specifically you will

• Develop new process to improve the way we manage our business
• Help to fulfil our legal requirements by managing the approval process for contracts and agreements
• Help to improve the way we work by capturing the things that are going well and the things that need improving
• arranging meetings, capturing notes and monitoring delivery

An apprenticeship here is an incredible opportunity to work towards a level 3 Business Administration qualification. You’ll be in full-time employment, earning a salary, whilst gaining new skills through funded training.
This role is in our corporate management team, which sits at the heart of the Environment Agency in the Chief Executives Directorate. We are a small team based across the country, with the two main locations being Bristol and Leeds. The team is as diverse as the work it manages, so you’ll have the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience.
If you can work independently when appropriate and can demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving then this role is the perfect step for you.
You will demonstrate professionalism, integrity, self-motivation, with a positive and pro-active approach to work. You will be adaptable, dealing with changing priorities with ease and working to tight deadlines. You will demonstrate responsibility for team performance and quality of projects delivered

In terms of skills:

• Familiarity and use of IT, particularly MS Office (essential)
• Excellent communication skills and good at sharing information
• Exceptional relationship building and customer skills
• Ability to make connections and share thoughts and ideas. Joining up work to increase impact
• Good analytical/questioning and decision making skills
• Resilience, determination and ability to respond to changing situations
• Foresight and the ability to anticipate and prepare contingency when required
• Good record keeping and writing skills.
This is an office based role in either Bristol or Leeds, some travel will be required.
