We are looking for an experienced environmental professional who will be responsible for the regulation of installation sites under the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016.

You will undertake a range of compliance assessment activities, including auditing, at a wide range of industrial sites to ensure permit compliance and make complex assessments of operators' ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise use of resources. You will use your influencing and negotiating skills to secure best practice, often dealing with people at senior levels within industry, local communities and other interested groups. You will also respond to and investigate incidents making sure suitable preventative and protective action is implemented.
You'll be part of the Installations (Essex & Suffolk) team with this post being based in our Kelvedon office, near Colchester. The team regulates a wide range of industry sectors including Food & Drink Manufacturing, Combustion/Energy Production, Chemical Manufacturing, Waste Incineration and Landfill Disposal. There are a diverse range of environmental challenges across all sectors.
We’re seeking someone with significant industrial experience gained through regulatory, consultancy or industry roles who will quickly become operationally effective.

• You'll be able to demonstrate your practical operational experience and knowledge of environmental regulation;
• You'll have experience of delivering environmental improvements using a range of tools;
• You’ll have a broad range of technical knowledge together with strong interpersonal and team-working skills;
• You’ll be proactive, self-motivated and a confident communicator, used to influencing and negotiating to deliver outcomes;
• You’ll be part of a team sharing skills and experience to deliver the best outcomes for the environment.

The role requires site visits and fieldwork and therefore a full driving licence is essential. Candidates will be required to participate in an out of hours standby roster.
The role qualifies for a lease car.
