We are looking for a Grade 5 Technical Advisor to lead on and shape our project delivery/intermittent maintenance programme, to ensure flood defences are effectively maintained and managed across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
As a Grade 5 Technical Advisor you'll be leading on whole life asset management of flood risk assets, from the creation of new structures, through to the maintenance, inspection, incident training, and ongoing review of asset performance.
You’ll provide specialist advice and analysis on Flood and Coastal Risk Managment business planning aspects and asset management processes. You’ll develop and monitor programmes as well as ensuring our assets operate as expected through maintaining and improving our asset data.
You'll work closely with the Local Delivery Lead and Team Leaders to provide sound advice to help deliver area goals and coach and mentor other team members by sharing your knowledge and experience of contract management and flood risk management.
The Asset Performance team is responsible for ensuring Flood and Coastal Risk Management assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, effective and efficient manner. Reducing flood risk to people and property and ensuring they operate to agreed service levels and standards. During a flood event, we operate our flood assets to deliver the Environment Agency’s operational response in collaboration with our partners.
You have worked for an asset management organisation that manages field or site based assets. Your experience and training means you have been directly involved in asset repair projects or delivery of asset maintenance work.

You must have:
•Contract Management experience within the construction sector
•Health, Safety & Environmental experience and awareness
•Project Management experience
You should ideally have:
•Practical experience in managing assets, ideally within the flood risk sector
•Engineering qualification and/or practical experience
•Comfortable using information technology, ideally GIS tools
•Sound Financial and account management
Effective communication skills are a must and it’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities. You’ll be an intelligent problem solver too, with a methodical work approach. Leading projects and coaching others will come natural to you. You'll be organised and have attention to detail to ensure our work is delivered to a high standard.

A full UK driving license is required.
This vacancy is permanent.
The post is based at Sale Depot. Frequent travel to other offices and site visits are required as part of the role and you will be encouraged to take on an incident role.
