We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated water resource technical lead, to work alongside our existing water resource specialist for a period of one year. The post holder will:

• Have a good understanding of water resources.
• Be jointly responsible for the local delivery of the water resources workload, including Abstraction Reform, New authorisations, un-used/underused licence project.
• Ensure area drought management plans are reviewed and maintained, and develop drought training for incident response and provide input on water company drought plans.
• Liaise with water companies to ensure they deliver the best practical outcome to protect present, and future, water resources.
• Build productive and influential relationships with internal and external partners.
• Provide specialist advice to local and national working groups and projects.
• Provide specialist advice to senior managers and facilitate resolution of complex or contentious issues.
• Support the delivery of the 3rd cycle river basin management plan.
The Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team is predominantly a water planning team with specialists in water quality, water resources and river basin planning.
Working with area operational teams and national colleagues, we collate, analyse and share data, providing the environmental evidence to inform and drive East Midland’s area priorities.
We’re a team of trusted advisors at the heart of environmental decision making, who facilitate integrated actions to maximise the benefit for people and wildlife.
Ability to demonstrate leadership in a specialist technical area.

Good research/analysis skills, supporting an ability to make proportionate, evidence-based inferences/proposals from information.

Experience of gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/information.

Good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work.

Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team

Sensitive to the needs of the internal and external customers and able to deliver outcomes through these.

Ability to prioritise and deliver work to relevant standards and tight deadlines.

Experience of translating internal guidance and instructions into local delivery.
