As Senior Advisor, you’ll demonstrate leadership supporting our Flood Risk Partnership and Strategic Overview teams. Your primary focus in this pivotal role, will be to drive the delivery of our challenging £412m 6 year capital programme and help plan for the next programme cycle. You will be the face of the Environment Agency for high profile projects drawing on your wealth of expertise in this area. You will provide excellent technical and strategic support to team members in the delivery of projects.

You will work closely with key stakeholders to identify beneficiaries and potential external funding contributors to projects. You will be expected to lead negotiations to secure partnership funding enabling projects to proceed. In addition to using your expertise to guide operational teams and drive best practice, you’ll mentor and provide training across the department.

The team provide flood risk planning advice and regulate works on the coast and Main River to ensure that future development is sustainable. You will be contributing to this work at a strategic level.

We also have a flexible range of incident management roles you will have the opportunity to volunteer for and you’ll get all the training and support you need.
At the Environment Agency, our Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) department plays a huge part in the work we do, helping to reduce flood risk to people and property. Within FCRM sit our Partnership & Strategic Overview teams, who are responsible for setting the strategic direction for all flood and coastal risk management activities. In this role, you’ll play a major part in helping to protect the homes and lives of residents from flooding.
This role is a central feature of the FCRM team and is critical to the successful delivery of our outcomes. You’ll have excellent knowledge of flood risk management including an aptitude for managing the commercial and political aspects of this work. Whether your background’s in engineering or project management, you’ll have strong communication skills and great customer focus. Confident in building relationships with external partners and internal teams, you’ll be committed to working collaboratively to achieve our goals.

You’ll have a can-do attitude and be dedicated to driving your own professional development. Knowledge of using outputs from flood risk models would be advantageous.

In addition to your degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or engineering discipline, it is desirable that you are a member of Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) or equivalent (or be committed to achieving this).
