In this role you will:
- Be the first point of contact for customers enquiring about working near rivers and sea defences, offering technical and practical advice associated with Flood Risk Activities Permits
- Use technical awareness to co-ordinate responses to data request enquiries, ensuring customers receive informative answers within the agreed timeframe
- Be responsible for maintaining and developing our evidence including flood risk mapping and help make improvements to keep our data current and readily accessible
- Develop and build relationships with external customers and partners as well as providing support to other team members working in flood risk management

You will also become a member of our incident response team protecting people and property.
The Partnership and Strategic Overview team contribute to the Environment Agency’s goal of creating a better place for people and wildlife by working with others and influencing future plans. We have a unique position allowing us to shape Flood Risk Management within catchments. We commission data and gather evidence to inform, develop and implement long term approaches helping to reduce flood risk to people and the environment by handling multi-million pound projects protecting 300,000 homes.
Members of the team use and develop transferable skills to engage and influence others, continually gaining experience whilst advancing in specialist areas of the business and personal development.
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate:
- A general understanding of flood risk principles and ability to apply this in decision making
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Deliver work in an organised and auditable way ensuring effective data/information management
- Working under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- Ability to use or develop new IT skills in such programmes as MS Office and ArcGIS
