The Stakeholder Management team is at the heart of the National Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Directorate in the Environment Agency. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our friendly, busy team for 18 months as an FCRM Support Officer. This role is an integral part of the team.
You will manage our reactive work such as coordinating timely and accurate responses to parliamentary questions and Ministerial requests. You will use your excellent communication and networking skills to influence and persuade others to take action, often to tight deadlines. You will also forward plan work to ensure our Senior FCRM Directors, the Environment Agency’s Chief Executive and Chair receive joined-up briefings and presentations to talk to our customers and partners. You will use your aptitude for gathering and interpreting technical and complex information, presenting it in a way that suits the target audience.
This role is extremely busy, interesting, and varied giving you an insight into how we, the Environment Agency, manage flooding and coastal erosion in England.
The FCRM Stakeholder Management team sits within the National FCRM Directorate. We deliver a unique service to coordinate information and support business activities. This includes horizon scanning, staff training, digital publishing, reputation management and keeping up-to-date information and key messages on a range of FCRM hot topics. We lead and develop our engagement with national and international stakeholders so that we have the relationships we need to work effectively and achieve shared outcomes.
You will have:
• Ability to effectively work on your own, manage your time and prioritise, as well as working as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to influence and persuade others to provide high quality information within short deadlines
• Aptitude for gathering and interpreting technical information, presenting it in a way which suits the target audience
• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers and partners
This post reports to the FCRM Stakeholder Management Senior Advisor

The role can be carried out from any location as the FCRM Stakeholder Management Team is a dispersed team.

The Environment Agency is a Category 1 responder. Your role will contribute to the Environment Agency’s response to major incidents such as flooding.

Assessments for this role will take place in Peterborough on Wednesday 23 October 2019.
