An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Incident Management and Resilience Department supporting our Major Air Quality Incidents service.

Role involves day to day liaison with our air quality monitoring service contractor and arranging the maintenance of our air quality monitoring equipment and mobile laboratories with our Ambient Air Monitoring Team and external suppliers.

You’ll support the training and rostering of our community of National Air Quality Technical Advisers (NAQTAs), Air Quality Cell Chairs (AQCCs) and Air Quality Cell Support Officers (AQCSOs). These duty officers are the ones who are called into action to deliver the major air quality incident service when required in liaison with key response partners Pubic Health England (PHE), the Meteorological Office (MO) and others.

You’ll help ensure that duty officer procedures, Easinet pages, Incident Management Toolbox and Resilience Direct folders that underpin the major air quality incident service are kept up to date and available to our duty officers. All Environment Agency employees are encouraged to be trained to perform a role in its incident response arrangements and a suitable role for the successful candidate will be explored.
This is a national role in the small Major Air Quality Incidents Team within the Incident Management and Resilience Department. We put in place arrangements necessary to enable the Environment Agency to respond to major air quality incidents in partnership with other response agencies. The Incident Management and Resilience Department puts in place national arrangements for the full range of incidents that the Environment Agency needs to respond to including floods, water pollution and drought.
You must have:

• Good relationship building and communication skills
• Good level of competence as a user of data and information systems
• A good knowledge of the Environment Agency’s incident management service
• Experience of performing an incident role is desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of air quality issues is desirable but not essential
The post is based in the in Horizon House, Bristol.

The post holder will be expected to be trained to perform an incident role.
