You’ll be based in the Flood Resilience team at the Environment Agency in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. You will provide office support for a range of functions undertaken by the team including community engagement, flood risk, incident management and warning services. You’ll help the team to plan and deliver community and voluntary sector engagement across the Area to help us achieve good outcomes in making communities more resilient to flood risk. You’ll also assist with our incident management training programme. The post will involve working with a variety of internal and external customers, including recovery communication after flood incidents. There will be an expectation on you to undertake an incident management role, this will involve being on call to respond to incidents for 24 hours a day for 1 week in a rotation pattern of approx. on duty once every 8 weeks. There will also be shift working should an incident occur that requires an escalated response. Training will be provided for a suitable role, based on your skills and circumstances.
The team of 10, work to ensure that the flood warning service, procedures and duty officers are maintained throughout the year and to ensure that communities and external professional partners understand how to respond during incidents.
Ideally you’ll:

• be flexible and adaptable with good attention to detail
• have competent IT skills
• be capable of working in situations of high pressure and stress during incidents
• able to work shift patterns, weekends and evenings for either engagement or incident response as required

The role will involve some travel around Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk so the ability to drive is desirable, but not essential. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to attend community events.
