As a Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Advisor in the Partnerships and Strategic Overview (PSO) Team you will be helping to reduce flood risk to people and property in the Hertfordshire and North London Area. There are two 6-12mth posts, one will focus on being the spatial planning and flood risk activity permit technical lead. The other will focus on managing the relationship and maintaining a strategic overview with lead local flood authorities and acting as a senior user on our capital projects. You will be expected to contribute to some or all of the following activities:

- Forge relationships with internal teams and identify opportunities to link elements of your work.
- Work with colleagues across the country to share best practice, improve ways of working and disseminate new guidance.
- The technical lead will use experience in planning and/or permitting to technically support colleagues and ensure training is identified and delivered.
- The general advisor will be a senior user on modelling and/or capital projects to develop and progress proposals to reduce flood risk in our communities.
- Ensuring our priorities, and those of external Risk Management Authorities, are aligned with the National Flood Risk Management Strategy.
Partnerships & Strategic Overview support the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal risk management assets. We use a wide range of skills to help us plan for the future. They include the analysis of data to inform future investment plans, engagement with communities and professional partners and developing strategic approaches to future flood risk management. We work in partnership with communities and other organisations to protect people and property from future flood risk.
Through your experience you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:
For both roles we would expect you to:
• Apply a project management approach to manage multiple priorities and competing demands
• Be able to show where you’ve delivered success outcomes
• Be an intelligent problem solver, with a methodical work approach linked to managing risk
• Have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with a variety of customers
• Experience of working within and knowledge of flood risk management is required.
. Be able to show leadership technically through your day to day work, supporting your line manager and leading and delivering work through others.

For the technical advisor role:
. You will need to have experience of planning and ideally flood risk activity permitting.
Base location is Alchemy and there will be the expectation to attend the office if business need requires for meetings, training, collaboration etc.
