We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual, to lead a team of Regulatory Officers in our Suffolk and Essex Installations team. This is a great opportunity to lead a front line team, regulating some of our most challenging and high risk industrial and COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) sites, whilst making a real difference to the quality of the environment.

You'll bring a positive, visible and inclusive leadership style which will inspire and motivate the team to achieve environmental outcomes whilst providing a first class customer service. You'll also work closely with our Regulated Industry family of teams and so a collaborative and engaging approach is essential.

You'll have a good understanding of and be practised in incident management and regulatory work and be confident in dealing with a wide range of customers, including major company representatives and members of the public. With excellent interpersonal skills you'll provide leadership for your team's health, safety and wellbeing as well as contributing to their career development.

You'll also undertake the role of Team Leader for the South East hub ensuring the effective management of COMAH sites, collaboration with other COMAH team leaders and close working with the Health & Safety Executive.
The Suffolk & Essex team is one of three Installations teams in East Anglia Area. The team's core activity is the day to day regulation and enforcement of environmental permits held by a diverse range of industrial sites. These include food and drink manufacture, chemicals, energy production, landfill and waste incineration. The team also contributes to the regulation of COMAH sites across East Anglia. The team has inspectors based in Ipswich and Kelvedon offices.
You will have strong, proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate colleagues and clearly communicate both the team's and the Agency's desired environmental outcomes.

The successful candidate will:

- be enthusiastic about leading, motivating, supporting and developing the team and have well developed interpersonal, influencing and communication skills;
- be able to balance and manage risks/demands on the team from internal and external sources to help prioritise and manage workloads;
- work collaboratively with other teams across East Anglia Area and further afield to improve and protect the environment;
- act as a role model for the Agency's commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion;
- have experience of an incident management role and be willing to consider taking up an out of hours rostered role if asked;
- preferably have some knowledge of industrial regulation and/or COMAH but not essential.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

Your base location will be either Kelvedon or Ipswich, but currently there's flexibility to work from home.

The post is full-time although requests for other work patterns will be considered.
