There are two roles available, one in the West Hampshire Operations Field Team, based in Romsey, and one in the Chichester Field Team in West Sussex.

We are looking for people to help maintain our rivers and coastal assets and respond to flooding and pollution incidents. Field Teams work remotely outside in all weathers.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Work as part of small team and support the Lead Team Member delivering our work programme
- Routine operation and maintenance of our assets such as strimming, debris and grill clearance of rivers and structures.
- Respond to flooding and pollution incidents outside of normal working hours as part of a 24/7 standby rota
- Experience not essential as full training will be given
The Operations Field Teams perform an essential ‘front line’ role for the Environment Agency.
The Field Teams provide our operational response during flood events, operating sluices and other structures, erecting temporary defences, inspecting and maintaining Agency defences.
We also carry out most maintenance and construction activities on Environment Agency assets, such as grass cutting, clearing trash screens and removal of river blockages, and minor civil engineering works.
We are seeking two enthusiastic, hardworking people who are willing to work outside in all weather conditions, and have the capability to develop skills to use light plant and tools.
Ground maintenance skills would be an advantage.

Other requirements for this job include some knowledge of health and safety risks and procedures, although training and mentoring will be given.
Good communication skills and computer literate. Competent using IT devices, such as an iPad, and willing to learn our in-house systems.
A willingness to learn the required technical skills through our apprenticeship scheme with on the job training.

A UK driving licence is required.
