You'll be involved in whole life asset management of flood defence assets across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire. This includes the development and building of new structures, maintenance, inspection and review of asset performance.
There are two roles on offer. Both roles will including acting as a client or project manager on construction projects. One role will spend a larger portion of time leading on programme management including resource allocation, budget forecasting and reporting progress.
The work includes data and financial management, specification and review of works, management of construction projects and asset maintenance as well as liaison with contractors, the public and professional organisations.
You’ll provide specialist advice on Flood and Coastal Risk Management assets. You’ll support the development and monitoring of programmes as well as ensuring our assets operate as expected through maintaining and improving our asset data.
You'll work closely with the leadership team providing advice to help deliver area goals. You will coach and mentor other team members by sharing your knowledge and experience of contract management and flood risk management.
You will be trained in incident response and fulfil an incident response role. There are a variety of roles with flexibility depending on your circumstances.
The Asset Performance team is responsible for ensuring Flood and Coastal Risk Management assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, effective and efficient manner. Reducing flood risk to people and property and ensuring they operate to agreed service levels and standards. During a flood event, we operate our flood assets to deliver the Environment Agency’s operational response in collaboration with our partners.
You have worked for an asset management organisation that manages site based assets. Your experience and training means you have been directly involved in asset repair/maintenance projects.
You should have:
• Contract Management experience within the construction sector
• Health, Safety & Environmental experience and awareness
• Project Management experience
• Practical experience in managing assets, ideally within the flood risk sector
• Engineering qualification and/or practical experience
• IT skills, particularly project management tools
• Sound financial and account management
• Working towards professional membership of an appropriate institution (APM, IAM, ICE, CIWEM)
Effective communication skills are a must, it’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities. You’ll be an intelligent problem solver, with a methodical work approach. Leading projects and coaching others will come naturally to you. You'll be organised with attention to detail to ensure our work is delivered to a high standard.
