Do you enjoy championing positive environmental outcomes?

Then NEAS is looking for you!

We are looking for two Environmental Project Managers to join our Eastern Hub at the heart of our National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability team (NEAS). NEAS drives the Environment Agency’s aspirations as an effective asset and programme management organisation.
NEAS oversees the effective management of environmental risk on our Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) projects and help identify and deliver environmental enhancements that leave a better place. Our NEAS Hub Teams are responsible for the input of high quality environmental and sustainability advice to the Integrated Delivery Teams for each Delivery Hub. Our input is principally at the project development stages where we ensure that the need for environmental consents and approvals is identified.
You’ll be involved in ground-breaking and award-winning work, leaving a lasting legacy for the future through effective collaboration across internal departments, the wider Defra group, statutory bodies, our framework delivery partners, businesses and communities.
NEAS have various Hub Teams based across England, these posts are in the Eastern Hub supporting EAN and HNL Area Teams.
You are welcome to meet the team virtually at 11.00am on Thursday 21st October 2021 and ask us about what we do and how we do it. Please be assured that this informal session is to answer your queries and will not have any bearing on your application.
Essential:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in environmental science or a related subject.
• Demonstrable relevant experience preferably in EIA (project inception through appraisal and design, and ideally to construction of new flood risk management assets).
• Effective communication and influencing skills as well as an ability to work as a key adviser within multi-disciplinary project teams.

Desirable:
• Graduate or Associate Member of IEMA, or equivalent professional institute.
Project management qualification is not necessary as you will be offered comprehensive induction/training and be given time and space to learn. You will also be assigned a coach within the team to support you as you embark on the role.
We will also support you in progressing your status within the professional institution of your choice.
When answering the competence questions, refer to Annex 1 in the Candidate Pack detailing the success measures for each competency.
Please see the Candidate Pack for informaton on Benefits and working practices.
As part of the role you will be expected to travel to one of the EA Offices within the Eastern Hub for project and team meetings, once travel restrictions are lifted and within hybrid working arrangements.
