At the Environment Agency there’s so much more to our work than building flood risk management schemes or regulating industry. We strive to ensure that everything we do counts towards leaving a legacy to be proud of – for people, communities, and the environment – for all of us to enjoy and for future generations. We are fully committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone.

As a Contract Support Officer, you will work as part of a Portfolio Assurance service to colleagues in Project and Contract Management Integrated Delivery Hubs across England, as they help create a better place through excellence in project and programme management.

As a Contract Support Officer, you will use agreed tools and processes to undertake contract support activities, including uploading contracts, raising of purchase orders, processing payment requests, and investigating anomalies to ensure we pay our suppliers within agreed timeframes.

The Contract Support Officer will work closely with Project Managers and Commercial Service Managers. An interest in developing greater contractual awareness is useful.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
As part of Major Projects and Programme Delivery, our team works with others in the Assets and Programme Management teams and the Integrated Delivery Hubs across England as they help create a better place through our work in asset management and delivery. We support and assure the resourcing of our teams, ensure our contractors are paid the right amount at the right time and support other teams with a wide range of other activities.
English and Maths GCSE or equivalents are essential. It’s important you’re confident in using MS Office, particularly Excel, and that you have some financial administrative experience. Experience of processing invoices and purchase orders would be advantageous.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for interpreting numerical or financial data, spotting issues, and confidently reaching solutions, whilst maintaining positive working relationships.

With so many contacts across the Environment Agency, it’s also important that you’re positive, enjoy helping colleagues and take pride in your work, within a high performing team.

Naturally, we want you to be the best in your field, so expect a formal, intense, and comprehensive training programme and development plan that helps you grow professionally.
Benefits include generous pension provision and leave entitlement. Our flexible working supports a healthy work/life balance and offers numerous choices to accommodate the demands that personal commitments may present. Excellent training and learning opportunities are available, including personal and professional development

We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community wishing to join a workforce which embraces difference and welcomes everyone.

Base location can be flexible within your hub, but with an expectation of co-locating in Hub or delivery partner offices occasionally.
