We’re looking for two energetic and dynamic individuals to join Producer Responsibility Regulatory Services (PRRS).

These roles are within a newly developed team in PRRS and provides an exciting opportunity to assist an investigations lead to prioritise and drive forward interventions to remove unlawful operators from producer responsibility regimes.

You will support a team carrying out compliance and enforcement in relation to producer responsibility, providing guidance and support to colleagues by assisting criminal investigations.

Specifically, your role will assist the tackling of risk profiled, high risk sites within the Producer Responsibility regimes. Supporting with work including obtaining evidential material, producing disclosure schedules, witness statements and interviews leading to the disruption of activities through to full criminal investigations and prosecutions ensuring Producers, Treatment Operators and Compliance Schemes are operating on a fair competitive level.

You will also work alongside the rest of PRRS in driving and delivering routine activities providing a technical steer to colleagues ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.

Through your work you’ll build strong working relationships and have a focus on developing others, ensuring we have a thoroughly robust and professional team capable of undertaking all appropriate levels of enforcement.
In 2016 we helped divert 8.8 million tonnes of waste from landfill by supporting industry, business and public bodies to take responsibility for waste produced, imported, sold and used.

To ensure the UK complies with targets we:
• issue advice and guidance;
• register producer and compliance scheme obligations;
• permit operators to issue evidence of recovery/recycling;
• risk profile compliance monitoring
• Investigate and prosecute offenders through either criminal or enforcement undertakings/civil sanctions
• Previous experience of working within investigations is essential.
• Ability to produce factually accurate reports following collation, analysis and interpretation of data and/or information.
• Experience of disclosure work.
• A good understanding of intelligence, how to interpret and use it appropriately.
• Experience of witness statements, handling exhibits and a working knowledge of RIPA.
• Experience of attending court.
• Experience or an understanding of financial intelligence/or a willingness to develop.
• Excellent communications skills both written and verbal. Dealing with a wide range of audiences.
• Analysis of issues and problems, identifying solutions, taking remedial action and communicating effectively.
• Excellent team working skills with the ability to work with activity leads and colleagues to deliver outcomes.
• Experience in managing multiple demands on your time in a prioritised manner and able to influence people.
• Competent use of Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
