A leading member of staff within National Investigations Team.
Lead in providing strategic management and support to Environmental Crime Teams nationally during organised, complex and serious environmental crime investigations in order to achieve successful prosecutions and environmental outcomes.
Manage a team of investigative and intelligence personnel to deliver successful investigations as above.
To be the conduit between the investigation and Legal Services Department.
Ensure effective integration on shared activities with external partners in order to achieve environmental outcomes and maintain organisation’s reputation.
The National Investigations Team are involved in a variety of investigative workstreams throughout England. The team is dispersed at a variety of locations, and comprises investigators and senior environmental crime officers.
Experience
• Extensive operational experience in Major Crime Investigation.
• Ability to manage and lead major investigations
Skills & knowledge
• Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act
• Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act
• Working knowledge of the National Intelligence Model
• Complex case file preparation.
• The ability to communicate effectively with legal professionals and senior managers
• Supervise investigations across a small dispersed team and oversee their case work

The post location is flexible, however, the Major Investigations Room (MIR) is in Solihull; the successful candidate will need to regularly work from this office in order to lead and direct the investigation(s) they manage. Geographic responsibilities will be, in the main, though not exclusively, for MIs located south of the Midlands.
The team is dispersed nationally, and given the national remit of it, frequent travel away from the base location, sometimes at short notice, and with overnight stays will be required. A full driving licence is essential.
