This exciting role was first established in early 2016 in response to the flooding across Cumbria and at the request of Ministers to provide a greater, more integrated level of leadership at a catchment scale. Since then the role has evolved providing external leadership across community pilots, partners and internally within the Environment Agency.

We are extending the duration of the Catchment Director roles until March 2018, as we combine the Cumbria Flood Partnership work and develop our catchment approach further through the Cumbria Catchment Pioneer.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team that includes three Catchment Directors, Pioneer Programme Manager. It is essential that the team provides leadership to integrate these new work areas and connects with a range of core business teams, works collaboratively across Defra and with partners to deliver truly integrated ways of working and outcomes.
You will be self motivated, innovative and passionate about leading people and programmes of work. The role doesn’t initially have any direct reports, but your leadership should be felt across the Area, through partners and with communities. You will be an ambassador for the EA, and as a member of the local Defra group.

You will understand the complex interactions between different components of catchments and communities, translating strategy into action in a way that engages others and can be explained succinctly to a diverse range of audiences.

Your experience will demonstrate your skills across a breadth of activity and interactions with people, clearly showing how you have made a difference to the environment and people.

The work of the Cumbria Flood Partnership and the Pioneer sit within a local and national political context, and ideally you will have experience of decision making within similar context.
Closing Date: 29 May 2017 at 23:55 hours
